Research offers one side of the story, a side that can only share scientific data. The other side comes from the collegiate student-athletes themselves, a side with firsthand testimonials that merit attention.
Cross Creates Controversy

Newest Class of Fulbrights Announced
Santa Clara is adding four more students to its list of Fulbright Scholarship recipients. Announced last month, three seniors and one alumna were offered grants to study and teach abroad during the upcoming academic year. Santa Clara is among the top producers of U.S. Fulbright scholars and students, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding are torturous enough in their own right, but tack on a nine to five, cooking dinner, doing the dishes and putting us to bed each night for years and years and you’ve got the hardest job known to (wo)man. May 1: A male student was reported as intoxicated and urinating in front of a campus resident’s room. CSS responded and escorted him back to his off-campus apartment on Campbell Avenue. CSS documented the behavior.

Ninety-Year-Old Iron Bronco
A man who was born before the Great Depression and served in World War II is in the midst of his fifth year participating in an on-campus triathlon. Willow Glen resident Bob Scheid biked up to campus to swim every week for 25 years and is on a team for Santa Clara’s Iron Bronco competition. He just celebrated his ninetieth birthday in March.
ASG Election Run-Off Vote
In a compelling turn of events, Santa Clara’s Associated Student Government announced Tuesday that the first round of voting for the presidency and vice presidency was too close to call and that the election would continue as a run-off.
Santa Clara Stifles Stanford
The Broncos bested their cross-town rivals Tuesday night, beating Stanford University 4-2. Freshman Travis Howard took the hill for Santa Clara, and pitched well, allowing one run over four innings of work.
Local Leaders Endorse Congressional Hopeful
At a town hall meeting on Monday, City of Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor and councilwoman Kathy Wanabe officially endorsed Democratic candidate Ro Khanna who is currently campaigning to represent California’s 17th District in Congress. According to Gillmor, this is the first time she has ever endorsed a candidate for higher office.
